Sporting events to raise money for good causes is a relatively common occurrence nowadays. Longer distance running events, for example, are popular as people combine raising money, achieving a remarkable personal goal and enhancing their fitness. Did you know that in 2024, an estimated 1.1 million people completed a marathon globally?

For reasons most of us will find difficult to fathom, some people aren’t content to stop after running the 26.2 miles (42 km) of a marathon course and wish to continue the ‘experience’. Our very own Michael Carratu, Mirius Head of Retail Sales, is one such person ready for greater challenges in support of good causes. This weekend, Mike and his partner, Imogen, are participating in The Wall Ultramarathon – a gruelling 70 mile endurance race following the course of Hadrian’s Wall in the beautifully scenic north of England.

Mike and Imogen are raising money for the charity Children with Cancer UK. For over three decades, Children with Cancer UK have supported research into childhood cancers allowing the development of more effective treatments, alongside funding initiatives that assist children and their families throughout their cancer journey and beyond.

Good luck, Mike and Imogen.
