This month, we’re proud to celebrate an exceptional milestone at Mirius, as it marks 30 years since our Managing Director, Darren Langdon, first joined the business.
Darren arrived on 9th April 1996, joining what was then Coventry Chemicals as a Laboratory Operative, and worked his way up through multiple management and Director roles in Quality, Operations and Commercial. Three decades later, his journey from the lab to MD perfectly reflects the values, ambition and people‑first culture that define Mirius today.
A Journey of Growth & Leadership
Over the years, Darren has played a key role in Mirius’s evolution, stepping into Commercial Director in July 2018 before being appointed Managing Director in November 2020. His leadership was particularly vital during 2020–2021, helping guide the business through the challenges of the Covid‑19 pandemic, a period that saw Mirius recognised as a UK Business Hero by the British Chamber of Commerce.
In April 2021, Darren was also a key member of the team that helped Mirius secure the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade, one of the company’s proudest achievements.
Knowledge, Values and Community Impact
Darren’s impact goes far beyond titles. His deep technical and commercial knowledge built through years of hands‑on experience, has made him a trusted mentor to colleagues across the business. Just as importantly, he has been a driving force behind Mirius’s commitment to community, charity and wellbeing.
This includes longstanding support for organisations over the years such as The Hygiene Bank, Homeless Oxfordshire, Trussel Trust, Maggie’s and In Kind Direct. Alongside this, Darren has initiated the Super Sapling Pledge reforestation project, the sponsorship of local sports teams, and a strong focus on staff wellbeing, including collaboration with Sober Dave (David Wilson) through in-office talks and one‑to‑one support sessions, open to all staff.
Mirius CEO Steve Quinlan, who has worked with Darren for twenty five of his thirty years, says:

Beyond the Workplace
Alongside his professional achievements, Darren has also marked major personal milestones during his time at Mirius, getting married, raising two children, actively engaging in charitable work, and continuously fulfilling his intellectual curiosity over a diverse range of topics in his spare time through reading, taking courses and meeting new people. A reminder that a career is shaped not only by professional milestones, but by the personal growth, knowledge and relationships gained along the way.
