Mirius and Hycolin are thrilled to announce a new relationship with The Hygiene Bank to help raise awareness and tackle hygiene poverty in the UK.
Hygiene poverty means that countless people are unable to afford many of the everyday hygiene and personal grooming products most of us take for granted. The reality of low income is that it restricts people’s options, leaving them caught between being able to heat their homes, pay the rent, eat or be clean. A fifth of the UK is now living in poverty and over half of 18 to 24 year olds have had to go without hygiene or grooming essentials or cut down on them due to lack of funds (source: In Kind Direct, 2017).
The Hygiene Bank is a grass roots, community initiative that works to tackle hygiene poverty in the UK. The Hygiene Bank believes that it shouldn’t be a privilege to feel clean and have a clean home and that all people deserve to live a life with dignity, and so the organisation is dedicated to providing hygiene, personal care and household cleaning products to those that need them most.
Hycolin are passionate about helping the most vulnerable people in the UK and have therefore committed to donating 20,000 bottles of Hycolin Antiviral cleaning products every month, thats 26 pallets of products being delivered to The Hygiene Bank’s community projects across the UK for an initial 6-month period.
Hycolin will be delivering their first donations today (12th December) ahead of the Christmas period with plans to significantly expand donations throughout the UK from January 2021. Edgar Penollar, CEO at The Hygiene Bank “Many people were experiencing hygiene poverty before the Coronavirus hit and the number is expected to rise due to the knock-on effects of the pandemic. We are very grateful to the Hycolin Company who are supporting The Hygiene Bank and their donations will help alleviate some of the pressure individuals and families face when unable to afford the basics. We also look forward to working with them in 2021 and beyond to raise awareness of the issue hygiene poverty.”
Darren Landon Managing Director at Mirius “Hygiene poverty is such an important issue and one we’re all very passionate about. We’re delighted to be working in conjunction with The Hygiene Bank to provide Hycolin’s Antiviral products to those who most need it. We look forward to raising awareness and maximising donations across the UK in 2021. With UK retailers such as Boots on-board, it just goes to show any business large or small, can get involved. We urge all cleaning and hygiene manufacturers, wholesalers, importers, retailers and consumers to get involved in donating and supporting this vital charity. Already our friends at Scrub Daddy Sponges have donated thousands of their fantastic cleaning sponges and we will be reaching out within our industry for more support.”
