A circular economy is based on a sustainable production – consumption model that aims to keep materials and products in use, rather than becoming waste (1). At Mirius, sustainability is a key factor that drives our operations so waste reduction is a major consideration for us. Having adopted more sustainable waste processing we have benefited from reducing environmental impacts, promoting product innovation and enhancing efficiency in production.

For one year, Mirius has been operating ‘Wastewize’ an inhouse waste reduction strategy aimed at reducing and reusing waste generated during production. A notable component of Wastewize is the recycling of rejected plastic materials during production. A considerable proportion of machine-rejected bottles are actually fit for use so Wastewize identifies, collects, cleans and reuses these plastic components.

The success of the Mirius Wastewize scheme over the past year is set to continue and, where possible expand,  demonstrating our commitment to towards sustainable practices.
