What is BPR?
BPR is the Biocidal Product Regulation, a European safety legislation which applies to all disinfectants/sanitisers. The basic effect of BPR is that it requires all products classed as biocides (bleaches) to be authorised before they can be sold.
It is up to your business to ensure that your products are registered. If your products aren’t registered you will not be allowed to sell any products containing bleach.
If your products are not included in a Biocidal Product Dossier. YOU WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO SELL BLEACH BASED PRODUCTS.
The key points to note are:
- Specific authorisation will be required for all products in-order for them to remain on the market. No authorisation – No sale of goods!
- To gain authorisation, a comprehensive information pack (dossier) must be submitted for each product/family of products – including a list of all products within that family along with copies of their labels.
- For bleach products, a dossier must be submitted by 01/01/2019. After this date any products not included in a dossier must be withdrawn from the market within 365 days.
If you are already a Coventry Chemicals customer your products will automatically be included in our dossier so your business is covered.
